At RedSky Bikes, we believe in the power of cycling to clear your mind and feed your soul. Whether you’re hurtling down Sutton Bank or taking a leisurely ride through the Dales, there’s no better place to be than on two wheels in the great outdoors.

We’re a family owned business bringing high-quality, trustworthy bike parts and products, an expert team and five-star customer service to North Yorkshire to meet the needs of our community. Young to old, male to female, bright-eyed beginner to seasoned pro, mountain bikers, gravel riders, e-bikers, and road cyclists; RedSky Bikes is here to encourage you to find time to ride.

Fuelled by a genuine passion for good old-fashioned customer service and all things bikes, we’re committed to going the extra mile for our customers. We don’t believe in ‘one size fits all’. We give every customer their own individual journey to find what’s right for them and their next adventure.

Our Location

RedSky Bikes is a large retail unit in the centre of the new Sowerby Gateway development on the outskirts of Thirsk, North Yorkshire. With a state-of-the-art Park Tool workshop and relaxed, friendly shop floor, we’re the perfect destination for shopping and servicing alike.

Grab a free coffee and chat with our friendly team, try before you buy on our large outdoor forecourt, then head out to one of the many adventure destinations on our doorstep.

We’re lucky to be located next to the Sowerby Sports Village, boasting a 1km fitness trail designed for walking, running and cycling as well as a skate park. We’re also right in between the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales, which are absolute playgrounds for outdoor enthusiasts.

Meet the Team

James Gilbert
Sales & Operations Chief

James is usually found up a mountain or in a body of water, either mountain biking, wild swimming, kitesurfing, or water-skiing. RedSky Bikes was partly born out of his own need for a local, expert cycling hub and dedication to providing good old-fashioned customer service to like-minded adventurers.

Gemma Thompson
Finance & Office Oracle

As a keen triathlete, open water swimmer and wannabe Yogi, Gemma has a contagious passion for outdoor adventure. Her belief in the power of positive thinking and exercise to improve mental health combined with her business know-how are the driving forces behind the scenes at RedSky Bikes.

Stuart Rider
Bike Mechanic Guru

After owning Riders Cycle Centre in Skipton for over 10 years, Stuart was lured up to North Yorkshire for a new adventure. He is one of the best in the business when it comes to providing the highest quality bike servicing and maintenance, never receiving less than five stars for his customer service and expertise. Stuart lives and breathes bikes and has been on many adventures across the globe. He loves a bikepacking trip on his gravel bike and is always willing to share his knowledge to help others with their next bike trip.


Marcus White
Shop Manager

With a backgound in outdoor leadership, retail and adventures around the world, Marcus joined our team in August 2023. He loves being outdoors, especially exploring the local moors on his mountain bike, and is a certified British Cycling Mountain Bike Leader and Cytech Mechanic. You'll catch Marcus on the shopfloor whenever you visit, so be sure to say hi!
